Rockdale Premier Youth League U16's have a position open for a striker of quality.  All interested candidates must be free or have clearance from club commitments to trial. Players must have Premier League experience or minimum Super Youth league of high quality.

It was a fantastic effort from the team, the goals coming from captain Peter Apolevski and Huseyin Jasli.

Our next fixture is this Friday night against APIA Leichhardt Tigers at Lambert Park. 

Unfortunately our first grade boys went down 2-0.

Our next home game is this Sunday 6 May against Manly. Under 20's kick off at 1pm, first grade at 3pm.

This Sunday will see our first home game of the season at our home ground Ilinden Sports Centre following off season works to the playing surface and the erection of coverings over the existing seating.  It will be a big occasion for the club and it should be a fascinating game against Bonnyrigg White Eagles. All fans are encouraged to come on down to cheer the boys on.

As a special incentive for this Sunday's game, one parent accompanying each Junior players who attends the game in their Junior gear will receive free entry. 

There is a full day's schedule of games with the first grade game kicking off at 3pm.

All players from first grade to the under 13’s were introduced and presented with their gear for 2012.

President Paul Goreski presented the First Grade captain Pece Apoleveski with his captain’s armband for another year and Josh Lawson was announced as the First Grade vice captain for season 2012.

The Suns also introduced four new signing made in the last week, three of which have joined the club from A-League Clubs.

David Talevski an AIS graduate and former Australian youth international has joined the club from the Newcastle Jets as has Tommy Cirjak who most recently was with the Brisbane Roar youth team and previously under contract with Portsmouth FC in the EPL until visa issues caused him to have to return to home.

The Club has also signed Sydney FC goalkeeper Ryan Norval and experienced defender Ricky Perinich joins the club from Sydney United.

Finally, recently retired Rockdale City Suns and former NSL player Sash Trajcevski was announced as Assistant coach for the upcoming season.

The Suns are delighted to announce they have signed Pece Cvetanovski, Daniel Mitwali, Nathan Jagelman, Hussein Jasli and Daniel Slaveski.

Pece Cvetanovski is a former AIS graduate and Australian youth representative who was with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in 2008-2010 before returning home late in 2010 when he played a handful of matches with the Suns before taking a break from the game in 2011, still only 22 years old he will be one to watch.

Daniel Mitwali is a young 20 year old hardworking midfielder who returns to Australia after playing overseas for the last two years in Indonesia with Periswa Wamena and more recently in Jordan with Kfarsoum FC. In addition he has represented the Syrian u/23’s national team and like Pece has already attracted interest from the A-league.

Nathan Jagelman and Hussein Jasli come to the Suns from Marconi and Sutherland respectively with Nathan also spending the last couple of seasons with the Central Coast Mariners youth league team. Both players will add a considerable amount of speed to the Suns front line.

Daniel Slaveski as all followers of the NSWPL would know was with Bankstown City Lions last year and is a left sided midfielder who was one of Bankstown’s best players in 2011 and expected to continue his impressive performances in 2012.

The Suns have also promoted former Joeys and Sydney FC youth goalkeeper Aaron Liddell from last year’s 20’s squad who at only 18 years of age would have to be the youngest goalkeeper in the league along with the last year’s under 20’s captain the versatile Sean Thomas.

Finally, 17 year old Alec Urosevski the leading goal scorer in the recent Maso Cup has also been called up to the first grade team in recent trial games only after a few appearances in the 20’s and looks set to make his first grade debut in the 2012 season despite his very young age.

The Rockdale City Suns Football Club this week secured the services of former A-league player Paul Kohler and Japanese full back Takuya Murayama.

Paul Kohler brings to the club a wealth of experience having played over 45 matches in the A-League for the Newcastle Jets between 2005 and 2008 and over 20 matches for the North Queensland Fury in 2009 and 2010.

A championship winner in the NSL in 2001 and an integral part of the championship winning Newcastle Jets team in the 2007/2008 A- League season, Paul will be a great asset to the club.

Takuya Murayama better known as “Taku” is a specialist right winger who was with Bonnyrigg in the 2011 season having previously applied his trade in Japan.

Taku was a standout player in 2011 and is being closely monitored by A-league scouts due to his impressive performances in the 2011 NSWPL season, he will fill the void left in the roster by the retirement of club stalwart Paul Dee.

The Club would like to welcome both players on board and wish them the very best for the upcoming NSWPL season.

Mark enjoyed a long and successful playing career that commenced with Sydney United. He also enjoyed successful playing stints in Germany with Alemannia Aachen, in Japan with Avispa Fukuoka, and with the Swiss Super League outfit FC Vaduz.

Mark was an inaugural squad member of Sydney FC where he enjoyed three successful seasons. His leadership qualities were evidenced by the fact that he was also a club captain with the sky blues.

On the international side, he was a member of the Young Socceroos for a South American tour in 1993, including a youth tournament mostly including club sides. He was made vice captain to Mark Viduka in Australia's undefeated Youth World Cup qualifying campaign and scored the only goal of the Oceania final against New Zealand. He was a part of the squad for the 1995 World Youth Cup, played three of Australia's four matches including their second round exit in extra time at the hands of Portugal. He progressed his way into the national under-23 team and played most qualifying matches for the Olympics in Atlanta.

Since hanging up the boots, Mark has continued his involvement in the game and is most recognisable nowadays as a commentator on Fox Sports.

Mark has a wealth of knowledge and will be a valuable asset to the Club and in particular, the PDP program. As Technical Director for the PDP program, Mark will be responsible for developing the Club's PDP curriculum and he will be working closely with the PDP coaches and players.

A reminder that PDP trials for the 11's and 12's are taking place this Saturday 29 October at 9am and Sunday 30 October at 2pm. Players wishing to trial are advised as follows:

- Each player must arrive at the trials at least half an hour early in their playing gear;

- All players are asked to print and complete the PDP Trial Form. To access the PDP Trial form, click here.

- You must bring your PDP Form with you to the trials. All players are asked to affix a passport size photo to the Trial Form.

It proved to be a historic evening for the Club's Juniors who for the first time took out the Association's highest award, the Club Championship for Clubs with 10 or more teams. A fantastic achievement on the back of what has been a successful season with all but 2 teams participating in semi finals.  The award demonstrates the success across the board for the Club's Juniors.  Each coach, manager, player played their part and so congratulations and well done to them all.

We would also like to congratulate Jove Ckorovski who was presented with the Club man of the Year award for his tireless efforts with the Juniors in season 2011.  Well done Jove.

A reminder that the Juniors are holding an information session next Tuesday night 20 September 2011 at the Ilinden Sports Centre. This is an opportunity for any person who is keen to come on board the Junior Committee to meet current Committee members and to outline what contribution that person is able to make. We need more helpers and so if you are interested, we hope to see you at our meeting.  Please contact either Juniors President Dennis Loether or Secretary Jim Dimitriev for more details.  

The Club also finished off the season in style in the under 20's after a convincing win over the visitors.

Wally Savor along with the Suns assistant coach Alex Kotevich will take over the reins from Lee Sterrey for the remainder of the season.

Wally has done a great job with the Rockdale Suns under 20’s side this year and is familiar with the First Grade squad which should make the transition a lot smoother.

Having played at elite level and being voted one of the greatest Socceroos of all time, Wally has a great knowledge of the game.

Further, with Alex Kotevich doing a fantastic job with the first grade squad, we are confident the team will continue improving.

The Club would like to thank Lee Sterrey for his efforts to date and wish him all the best.

The boys were backing up from Saturday competition and performed admirably. They topped their group before narrowly going down to Balmain in the quarter finals 2-1.  Well done to the boys and their coaching staff.

In earlier games, our Under 18's scored a much needed point while our Under 20's came away with all 3 points following a 2-0 win.

STATE CUP QUARTER FINALS

We wish our Under 12's all the best in the quarter final clash this weekend in the State Cup.  They have done very well to progress to this stage of the tournament and we wish them well for their quarter final clash against Glenmore Park. The match is taking place this Sunday 19 June at 9am at Kenthurst Park. If you are free, the boys would love the extra support on the sidelines.

Congratulations as well to the Under 20's who recorded their first win (2-0) again against Manly.

The Suns are back in action this Saturday night against Bonnyrigg White Eagles. This is an away fixture but we hope to see as many Suns fans at the game to cheer the boys on. First grade kick off is 7pm.

The game was locked at 0-0 at the half time break. Dimitri Petratos put the Sky Blues ahead half way into the second half before a late equaliser from Marino Musumeci who was on the receiving end of a nice pass from Sash Tirovski.

A great spectacle all round.  The Suns would like to thank all supporters who turned out on the night and a special thank you to the management and playing group at Sydney FC. 

A big thank you as well to all Club members who volunteered their services on the night including the ball boys from some of our Junior sides.

NSW Premier League club Rockdale City Suns are set for a major overhaul with facilities at their ground Illinden Sports Centre as the NSW Government offered to assist them with the construction of a cover to the main stand.

During a friendly hit-out between the Suns and Marconi Stallions played on the 6^th of March, Member for Kogarah Ms Cherie Burton presented a $200,000 cheque to the Suns’ management for the upgrade of this facility.

In regards to the match it was the Suns who grabbed the victory scored by Jason Naidovski in the 67^th minute to give new coach Lee Sterrey four wins out of four trial matches since his acquisition as the club’s head coach for 2011.

The match will see Lee Sterrey lead the Suns against his former Club.

The Club is pleased to be hosting the Honourable Cherie Burton, Member for Kogarah who will also be making a special presentation to the Club shortly before the first grade match.  Kick off is 7pm.

Lee Sterrey has been giving the coaching gig at Rockdale City Suns for the 2011 NSWPL season. After a solid stint at Marconi Stallions in the 2010 NSWPL. Lee Sterrey did not agree to terms for the 2011 season he was replaced by Luke Casserly but were did that leave on of Australia's great coaches. 

Lee Sterrey a former NSL coach and always having sides that played for the ninety minutes, attacking football and always producing young talent not coaching in 2011 that could not be right. 

Rockdale City Suns the next destination for Lee, Rockdale have sacked Mile Todorovski before the first game of the season and after the club has come out calling for a semi final spot the board of Rockdale wanted a proven coach and that in Lee Sterrey they have. 

Great news for the NSWPL as one of the finest Aussie coaches in the game will be working his stuff week in week out at Bicentenial Park South.

The Suns have appointed former NSL coach, former Fijian National coach and most recently former Marconi Stallions coach Lee Sterrey as the coach for the 2011 season.

With the key signing of new players in the pre season, we now welcome Lee to our club and are confident that his experience and ability will continue to increase the success we have had at Rockdale over the years.

Sterrey was introduced to the players and committee on Tuesday and his preparation for the upcoming 2011 season is already in full swing.

Suns set sights on finals football

 After being able to handle their own amongst the rest of the NSW Premier League clubs in their debut season in 2010, the Rockdale City Suns have their sights set on establishing themselves as a finals football candidate in 2011.

Led by the tactics of coach Mile Todoroski, the Suns have commenced 2011 in promising fashion after taking out the Maso Cup.

Recruitment wise the club has managed to sign former Blacktown City FC defender Mirko Jurilj, former West Sydney Berries midfielder Kosta Lagoudakis, ex-South Coast Wolves midfielder Lisandro Berbis, former Sydney Olympic striker James Monie, former Newcastle Jets youth player Adrian Karakolevski and former Australian youth international Jason Naidovski.

The club has re-signed the likes of Askin Oygur, Dominic Hudap, Ben McNamara and Joshua Lawson while a few more players are expected to be signed before the club’s first NSW Premier League match against APIA Leichhardt Tigers at Ilinden Sports Centre on the 27^th of March.

All Junior players are reminded that the Soccer de Brazil coaching clinic is taking place this Saturday 19 February 2011 at our Junior fields located at Bicentennial Park East.  Parents are advised to utilise the car park within Bicentennial Park South (West Botany Street) and to enter the fields via the footbridge.

Following our Junior registrations over the past fortnight, we are seeking additional players for certain squads.  Places are limited and so if you are interested in joining the Club, please contact Club secretary Jim Dimitriev on 0429224617.

Players are required for the following grades:

Under 10's, 11's, 12's, 13's and 16's.

As mentioned above, places are limited and so get in quick or else you may miss out.  The final registration for additional players is taking palce next Tuesday night at the Club House (15 February 2011) commencing at 7:30pm.

A reminder that our Juniors Registration is taking place this weekend at the Ilinden Sports Centre between 9am-3pm on each day.  We suggest players get in early to avoid any delay and as teams are filling up fast.  All new players must bring either their passport or birth certificate.  We are taking registrations for all ages from Under 6's up to and including All age

It is vital that Football NSW provides its membership with Policy, guidance and information in relation to issues of risk management and duty of care.

We all have a duty of care to those involved in football, and as a result, and in response to the current heat wave being experienced we have issued a new Hot Weather Policy and provide the following updated resources to assist in ensuring the provision of a safe sporting environment for everyone.

Rockdale City Suns the 2011 Maso Cup Champions

In 2011 the Maso Cup was jointly hosted by the Rockdale City Suns and the Bankstown City Lions.

This year saw over 20 teams from all over Australia being invited and ten teams participate.

Over 6,000 people attended the games that were spread over the three days the tournament was played over.

The Cringilla Lions and Wollongong United played in the first semi final which ended in a 1-1 draw before going to penalties which saw Wollongong United win 4-3 and advance to the grand final.

Rockdale City Suns after beating the Preston Lions 2-0 advanced to the semi finals and they met the other joint host, Bankstown City Lions, at full time the game ended in a nil all draw.

A nail biting penalty shoot out was then held and each team took 12 penalty shots before a cool and classy penalty by Rockdale City Suns new signing and former Newcastle Jets striker Jason Naidovski sealed the win for the Suns 10-9 on penalties.

The Suns then clashed with Wollongong United in the grand final before a loud and large crowd, the Suns won the game 3-0 with two goals scored by Josh Lawson and one by new Rockdale signing and former West Sydney Berries captain Kosta Lagoudakis.

Jason Naidovski was crowned player of the tournament and presented with the Australian Macedonian Weekly player of the tournament trophy by Rockdale City Council Mayor Bill Sarvinovski.

Josh Lawson was named the man of the match in the grand final and won a $1,000 gift voucher to spend at any Gregory Jewellers store.

The Maso Cup was then presented to the winning captain from Rockdale Pece Apolevski by the member for Kogarah MP Cherie Burton.

A reminder for all new players that you must bring with you a copy of your Birth Certificate.

All players are required to have new photos taken, even players who had a photo taken last year.  This is a requirement from the St George Association and so parents are reminded that their children will need to attend the registration with them.  All coaches and RTO's are also asked to attend as they too will need to have a new photo taken.

As an added bonus, all players who register with Rockdale City Suns Juniors will be able to join up as Junior Blues member for the upcoming 2011/12 Hyundai A-League season.  Junior Blues forms will be available at our registration.
